Adidas and Jordan are teaming up to bring the worlds best skateboarding shoes to Africa, and with the launch of a new brand, the company is aiming to “bring more of the world’s best brands to Africa.”
The shoes will be available for sale in Jordan, where the brand launched its first store in 2019, and will be offered at a retail price of $199 for the XR5 and $299 for the 5X.
The shoes will also be available at Jordan Fashion University in Nairobi, Kenya, and at Jordan Sports Park in Gombe, Tanzania, the world leader in skateboarding gear, the adidas spokesperson told Reuters.
The shoes have already become a hit in Jordan.
“I think the fact that we’re going to be able to sell shoes in Africa is going to help us sell more in Africa,” Adidas Jordan Asia Marketing Director James Tromp told Reuters in March.
“It will also allow us to promote skateboarding in the region.”
Jordan is set to unveil a skateboarding school in Nandamanga, South Africa, in 2019.
Adidas and Nike are partners in the Africa-based skateboard-skating school.
The partnership also comes at a time when skateboarding has become a lucrative sport in the African region, with brands including Nike, Adidas and Skateboarders.
Adidas has been the world brand for skateboarding since its debut in 1998.
In 2018, the brand partnered with Skateboards.com to bring skateboarding to its new Nike Skateboarding Academy.
