Amazon’s UK e,n,s retail arm is set to open its first UK retail store in the capital, Birmingham, next month.
The store, in the space of a former Bank of Scotland building, will be called Amazon Warehouse and will open on December 8.
The first store to open in the UK was opened in London in February this year.
The move comes as Amazon gears up to launch its own online shopping services in the US, which it plans to open by 2020.
Amazon, which also operates e-shops in Canada and Germany, has previously opened stores in Paris, Sydney, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Madrid.
In an interview with the BBC earlier this month, CEO Jeff Bezos said the UK store will offer a similar experience to its US and Australian outlets.
“We’re going to bring the best Amazon experience to the UK,” he said.
Amazon’s UK stores will be the largest of its kind, Bezos said, adding that Amazon was “very keen” to expand to the US and Australia.
“I think it’s really important for us to open stores in places that are very diverse and very global,” he told the BBC.
“We are very keen to open our first UK store and it’s something we’re going for right now.””
